How Our Virtual Fair Platform Can Provide A Global Reach for Colleges and Universities

We have all had to adapt in different ways to the ongoing global pandemic that has shifted the globe on its axis. For the past 5 years, we have enjoyed planning our in-person fairs that have allowed us to travel with admissions representatives to high schools all over the world. However, in 2020, we had to cut our Spring 2020 tours short because of the pandemic that spread quickly, causing us all to break and head home. Even though our tours fell short this year, we came up with a new and advanced way to allow college and university admission reps to connect with students, parents, and guidance counselors all over the world.

Marketing

During our Fall virtual college and university fairs, we spent a great deal of time to ensure our marketing plan was effective and could produce the right kinds of results. We looked over the kinds of student’s colleges and universities want to have on their campuses, as well as the geographic locations these students should be coming from. We then build an advertising and marketing plan to match these requirements. Our plan included print, social media, and ads. These campaigns are built around specific demographics and keywords to ensure we are attracting an audience of students, parents, and guidance counselors, who are interested in the information and are actively seeking how to gain an international education. Next, we built advertisements geared at attracting students, parents, and guidance counselors to our platform to engage with our college and university partners.

High School Guidance Counsellors

Since we have been doing in-person fairs for the last five years, we have created an expansive list of over 11,000 high school guidance counsellors that we have built relationships with. Our goal is to ensure all high schools, around the world, are aware of our virtual fairs, and will invite their interested students and families to attend. Our guidance counselors are also welcome to attend are events as an educational representative, so they can experience the event and can connect with colleges and universities too.

Students

Students are the reason we do what we do. Our goal is to help students achieve their goals of studying abroad, in a country with new and exciting experiences. Before the beginning of our event, we have students register with information such as, country, grade, and program interests. In our last few virtual fairs, we have had returning students come back and join our virtual fairs. This means that they are interested in learning more about all their options before deciding on their future, and where their new home is going to be. The student registration forms allow us to sift through interests and to invite colleges and universities to our events that match those interests. This gives future students the ability to connect with post-secondary institutions they are interested in speaking with.

Partners

Our partners consist of college & university consortium’s, pathways & recruitment agencies, and national government agencies. Our partners share our fairs to their network of contacts, which helps us achieve our goals of reaching students globally.

Exhibitors

During our virtual fairs, we have created three different ways for institutions to participate: exhibitors, speakers, and sponsors. As an exhibitor, you receive a profile on our virtual fair platform which allows you to connect with students through text chats and 1-on-1 video calls. As a speaker, you get to host an informational session which will share your wealth of knowledge with registered attendees who want to learn more about specific topics. Lastly, are our sponsors, who gain a global footprint and increase institutional awareness, which can be chosen from five different levels of sponsorship.

Global reach can be difficult to achieve during a global pandemic, but luckily, we have got it figured out. In the span of a few months, we have built out an entire virtual platform and strategy to make effective virtual fairs. Our virtual fairs have allowed us to connect with more students all over the world, and gain relationships with different institutions.

If you are from a country that has a national language that is not English, chances are you will have to take either the TOEFL or IELTS. Make sure you check the requirements with the school to see if you are required to take either test, even if your national language is English.
